Volna ("we", "us", "our") is a fashion trend analytics platform developed and operated by a single independent developer. This privacy notice explains how Volna collects, uses, and protects information when you use our platform.
We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling any personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, and applicable US privacy laws.

What Data We Collect
Volna is designed to minimize personal data collection. The platform operates primarily on aggregate, anonymized trend data from third-party sources.
Data we do NOT collect
- Your name, email address, or contact details (unless you contact us directly)
- Your location data
- Your browsing history or behavioral data
- Any Pinterest user data, personal boards, or private content
- Any Google account data or search history
Data we may collect depending on final app design
- Account registration details (name and email) if user accounts are implemented
- Usage data such as which brands or features you interact with, collected in aggregate and anonymized form
- Technical data such as browser type, device type, and IP address for security and performance monitoring
Third-party data sources we query
- Google Trends (via pytrends): We query aggregate, anonymized search interest data for fashion brand keywords. No personal Google user data is accessed.
- Pinterest Trends API: We query aggregate, anonymized weekly pin/save count data for fashion brand keywords in the US market. No Pinterest user data, personal boards, private content, or individual user information is accessed at any point.
- Groq AI API: We send aggregated, anonymized trend data to the Groq API to generate analytical interpretations. No personal user data is included in these requests.

How We Use Data
Any data collected is used solely for the following purposes:
- To provide trend analysis and forecasting functionality within the Volna platform
- To generate AI-powered brand interpretations using aggregated trend signals
- To improve and maintain the performance of the platform
- To respond to enquiries if you contact us directly
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose beyond operating the platform.

Legal Basis for Processing
For users in the European Union and United Kingdom, we process data on the following legal bases under Article 6 of the GDPR:

Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell your personal data to any third party under any circumstances.
We share data with the following third-party services solely to operate the platform:
- Google (pytrends): Aggregate keyword trend queries only. Google's privacy policy applies: policies.google.com/privacy
- Pinterest: Aggregate keyword trend queries via the Pinterest Trends API. Pinterest's privacy policy applies: policy.pinterest.com/privacy-policy
- Groq: Aggregated, anonymized trend data for AI-generated analysis. No personal user data is included. Groq's privacy policy applies: groq.com/privacy-policy
No personal data is transferred to these third parties as part of normal platform operation.

International Data Transfers
Volna operates from the United States. If you are accessing the platform from the European Union or United Kingdom, please be aware that data may be processed in countries outside the EEA or UK, including the United States, where our third-party API providers operate.
Where such transfers occur, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with GDPR Chapter V, including reliance on Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions where applicable.

Data Retention
- Aggregate trend data fetched from Google Trends and Pinterest is stored locally in CSV format for analysis purposes and is not linked to any individual user
- If user accounts are implemented, account data will be retained for as long as your account remains active, and deleted within 30 days of account closure upon request
- If you contact us directly, any correspondence will be retained for up to 12 months and then securely deleted

Cookies and Tracking
At present Volna does not use cookies or tracking technologies beyond what is strictly necessary to operate the platform. If this changes, this privacy notice will be updated and users will be informed.

Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect any data processed by the platform, including secure storage of API credentials as environment variables rather than hardcoded values, and limiting data collection to only what is necessary for the platform to function.

Children's Privacy
Volna is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the platform, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this privacy notice from time to time to reflect changes in the platform or applicable law. The date at the top of this notice indicates when it was last updated. Continued use of the platform after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised notice.
